Board of Imams Victoria (BOIV) is deeply saddened on hearing the news of devastating earthquake across a swath of Türkiye and Syria killing more than 5000 people, injuring about 11,000 and toppled thousands of buildings. Rescue efforts are underway and the casualties keep climbing. Tens of thousands who were left homeless in freezing temperatures and in need of urgent help.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2699)
BOIV President Sheikh Isse Abdo MUSSE urges all the Masjids in Victoria to dedicate the Friday sermon on the 10th February 2023 to urge the community to donate generously to help the survivors of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.
Sheikh Isse Abdo MUSSE expressed his profound appreciation to the Australian Government for its pledge of $10 million in humanitarian aid announced by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
We would like to commend the efforts of charity organisations and individuals in Victoria for coming out in droves with generous contributions to help the people affected by the earthquake.
