Islamic Marriage (Nikah) &
Civil Marriage
At BOIV we conduct Islamic Marriage (Nikah) and celebrate civil marriage. Imams who are ‘Registered Minister of Religion’ are authorised to celebrate Islamic Marriage and register with Birth, Death, and Marriage Registry of Victoria (BDM).
Couples who intend to marry should lodge the Notice of Intention to Marry (NOIM) one month prior to the date of intended marriage. For Islamic Marriage (Nikah), the couple may request the BOIV’s Certificate of Islamic Marriage from the celebrant Imam.
If you are interested in applying for an Islamic marriage and or civil marriage at BOIV, please fill in and sign the forms and provide proofs & identification documents which include:
1. IDs (passports and or Driver’s License- preferably photos of the front and back of your Driver’s License)
2. Islamic and or Civil Divorce certificates (if applicable)
3. Shahada certificate (if applicable)
Any Wali issues to please send an email to info@boiv.org.au

GOOD BEGENINGS
Good Beginnings: The Pre-Marriage Mentoring Program for Muslim Couples
Learn about the Prophetic model of marriage and develop skills and knowledge required for a healthy, long-lasting relationship.
The program works to create opportunities for conversations with Muslim pre-marriage couples about how to build respectful relationships and strong marriages when they are at the beginning of their journeys together.
Couples work with a trained Good Beginnings Marriage Mentor to complete the course.
‘Good Beginnings’ has been collaboratively developed by Benevolence Australia and ‘Sir Zelman Cowen Centre’ at Victoria University as a pre-marriage counselling resource for Muslim couples endorsed by BOIV.
